Global Cloud Computing Services Market and its applications

Lun, 01/18/2010 - 23:27

Cloud computing is a concept of delivering a type of software, platform, and computing infrastructure in a network. In this, the actual business centric hardware is placed in a centralized location, or distributed servers are used to house applications. Businesses and customers can access the needed resources via connecting the servers from remote locations. Cloud computing encompasses various computing concepts like hosted applications and accessing software through web browser, which provide scalable business applications delivered through internet.

Most of the enthusiasts today's have never heard of Time-sharing . They appear unaware that the on-line world already depends on a couple of dozen data processing and storage complexes adjacent to an equally small number of communications hubs: the result of thirty years of evolution and experience rather than a decade of innovation.

Three Tips for Making the Right Choice between CDP and Deduplication

Lun, 01/18/2010 - 12:27

Deduplication is now widely recognized as a prerequisite technology for next generation data protection. While this is a correct view, to classify it as the only new technology that organizations need to consider in order to successfully redesign their backup infrastructure does not paint a complete picture. More specifically, the recent and rapid maturation of continuous data protection (CDP) has put organizations in a position where they need some criteria to make an informed decision as to how to proceed with these two technologies.

From VirtualBox (back) to VMware Fusion

Lun, 01/18/2010 - 11:33

I'm posting this mostly because I wanted to share an issue I had with VirtualBox 3.1.x running on my Mac.

For much of 2009, I ran an instance of WindowsXP as a guest OS via VirtualBox on my Mac. My guest OS serves two purposes: testing sites in Windows browsers and running an instance of SQL Server 2008 for a long-term project on which I am working. Because I need to connect to the SQL Server instance on the guest OS from my Mac, I use Bridged Networking, which allows my office's network to assign a unique IP address to the guest OS.

Zimbra Customers Applaud VMware Acquisition

Lun, 01/18/2010 - 11:32

Zimbra customers, on an emotional roller-coaster ride since it was acquired by Yahoo, welcome VMware's plans to buy the open-source e-mail, calendar and collaboration software vendor.

Many of them were vexed when Yahoo snapped up Zimbra for US$350 million in September 2007, concerned that the Zimbra suite might wilt and disappear due to Yahoo's inexperience in the enterprise software market.

Year of the virtual desktop?

Lun, 01/18/2010 - 11:29

2010 is going to be the year of desktop virtualisation. At least, that's what I've been told by several pundits at many points during 2009 and which many industrybloggers and magazines have been eager to endorse.
For many cloud computing has been the fashionable IT tip of the season but as the Centrix Software survey shows, there have been plenty of companies looking into desktop virtualisation. What's more, the Centrix research has demonstrated that enterprises are more interested in exploring different options when it comes to desktop virtualisation.

Lun, 01/18/2010 - 11:21

Consumption of energy sources has a negative reaction on the environment. Datacenters, PCs, printers and other IT gadgets use a large amount of power and consequently cooling energy is needed to counteract the power usage, which will be an endless circle of energy waste and also increased expenses.
